A UNESCO World Heritage Site, on 38-acres, and part of a national park dedicated by Queen Elizabeth in 1985. Originally a battery built in 1690, enlarged in 1736, the fortress became known as the "Gibraltar of the West Indies." from here, 950 British soldiers defended the island against 8,000 French invaders.
